Saraçoğlu Neighborhood, located in the Çankaya Kızılay district and implemented as Turkey's first mass housing project in history, is being redesigned while preserving its original concept and brought back to life. The project, where residences designed in the traditional Turkish house concept will be reconstructed without altering their structures, will span 120,000 square meters. With over half a century of history, the project aims to leave a legacy for future generations by incorporating 250 registered trees, offering a life intertwined with nature. The Emlak Konut Saraçoğlu project, where not a single brick or green space will be displaced, will include a total of 435 residences. Initially brought to life under the guarantee of Emlak Bank, Saraçoğlu Neighborhood will now be constructed by Emlak Konut GYO as a legacy for the future. The project, designed not to exceed three floors, will feature a museum, shopping areas, tourism facilities, and social amenities for the use of Ankara's residents.
During a press conference, Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mr. Naci Ağbal, shared his thoughts on the Saraçoğlu Neighborhood project, stating that the Council of Ministers' decision for the project was published on March 7 of the previous year. Over the past year, meticulous work has been carried out on the project. He emphasized that the area is a protected site and will be preserved for the future. Not a single brick will be moved, and its green spaces and trees will remain untouched. In the 1940s, Emlak Bank initiated this project, and today, Emlak Konut GYO is taking over. Emlak Konut viewed this project as a social responsibility and a national duty, working diligently on it. In the coming period, the relevant companies will construct the project with careful attention to all details. Amid Ankara's hustle and bustle, the project stands out with its lush greenery and natural climate effect, surrounded by plane and chestnut trees across approximately 120,000 square meters. Alongside 435 residences, the area includes 250 registered monumental trees. The Minister expressed gratitude for the meticulous efforts of Emlak Konut, which considered the opinions of all social segments while preparing the project over the past year. He noted that Saraçoğlu Neighborhood was once synonymous with public housing, a site that witnessed the history of the Republic. Without forgetting these memories, the project will remove the walls surrounding the area and reunite Ankara with Saraçoğlu, offering a vibrant green space for the public day and night.
