Modda Port Construction Technique
Built using advanced construction techniques, the project is one of the few to employ ground compaction 50 meters below the surface. The structure, standing approximately 70 meters tall, extends nearly the same depth underground, constructed on a pile foundation with an applied raft foundation system. A total of 53 rectangular-section C30 ready-mixed concrete pile foundations, ranging from 30 to 50 meters in depth, have been installed from the base level of the 80x280 cm foundation. The densest concentration of these foundations lies beneath the high-rise building's load-bearing system, with lengths of 40 and 50 meters. Additionally, cement injections with diameters of 80 cm and heights varying between 2.5 and 4.9 meters have been applied alongside the pile foundations.
The geotechnical report confirms sufficient resistance to liquefaction beneath the ground. Despite this, the entire site has been reinforced with high-modulus columns created through pressure-injected cement (jet grout) with diameters of 80 cm and heights ranging from 2.5 to 4.9 meters, excluding the pile foundations. The building's foundation system consists of a 240 cm-high raft slab. The construction utilized 11,420 cubic meters of C40-grade ready-mixed concrete and 1,860 tons of reinforced steel. The MODDAPORT Project has been analyzed using advanced calculation methods in collaboration with faculty members from two prestigious institutions: Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Dokuz Eylül University.
